How Many Chicken Feet Can a Dog Have?

2 min read · Written by the Wufzy team · Updated

There's no single right number, because the amount depends on your dog. This guide explains what to consider. It's general information, not veterinary advice, so ask your vet if you're unsure.

What decides the amount

  • Your dog's size. Smaller dogs need a smaller portion, sometimes a fraction of a chew.
  • Your dog's daily calories. Treats should be about 10% or less of the day's calories. See the 10% rule.
  • How often. Dried chicken feet are an occasional chew, not a daily habit.
  • Health and weight. Dogs that gain weight easily, or that have had digestive problems, may need less or none. Ask your vet.

A simple approach

  1. Start with a small portion on the first day.
  2. Watch your dog for a day for loose stools, vomiting or itching.
  3. If all is well, offer one portion at a time, a few times a week at most.
  4. Stay with your dog and take the chew away if they swallow large pieces.

Our general feeding guide by dog size is on the product page. It is not veterinary advice, so adjust for your own dog.
